Sushi Night(mare)

Sharing is Caring!

My sister, JN, and I had a craving for sushi the other night, and since she was a chef (just graduated from M.O.S.T. Culinary School last June), I asked her to make some.

So, we went out and bought ingredients for sushi and Kani Furai.

I thought all you needed to make some sushi were rice, fillings (like crab sticks, mango, tuna etc.), and nori. It turns out I was wrong.😅

You need Japanese rice, rice vinegar, dashi stock, fillings and of course nori.

No wonder I can never make a sushi that holds together, it always falls apart.😂

\”C\” loves crab sticks so we bought extra for her to eat as is.

After buying all the ingredients, we went in search of a sushi mat, to help roll the sushi easier, but the people in SM\’s Department Store didn\’t know what we were talking about, so we gave up looking for it.

In case you were wondering: A sushi mat is a bamboo mat, kinda like a place mat, where you place the nori flat and put all the ingredients and then roll it, it makes rolling the sushi easier and makes for a really tight wrap.

Anyway, it was raining really hard, kinda like when there\’s a storm, so we stopped in Starbucks for some coffee, I ended up buying a chocolate cake, couldn\’t help it, it just looked so very yummy.

Then we went home and made some sushi.đŸŖ

I didn\’t tell my sister that the crab sticks we bought had a little hole on the package, it was the last pack, so I thought, what the hey, one tiny hole won\’t make a difference. I was just so looking forward to the sushi that I didn\’t mind the hole there.

Anyway, she ended up making great sushi, and I ate a whole lot, as in I stuffed my face with it. I also stuffed my face with Kani Furai – crab sticks wrapped in nori, then breaded then deep fried just until the breading is golden brown, and Japanese mayo for dip. Yum!😋

So, here\’s the nightmare part: I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst case of the 💩s.đŸĨ´

LESSON: Never buy anything with a hole in it, even if it\’s just a tiny hole, it\’s just not worth it!
