Saving Is Good, Making It Work For You Is Better!

Sharing is Caring!

I have a confession: the moment someone starts talking about interest rates, percentages, yields, and anything that sounds remotely like a math problem, my brain quietly leaves the room.👻

But money is one of those 🤔adulting topics we cannot completely avoid. If we’re already working hard to save, it makes sense to look at options that may help that money grow.

One option worth checking out if you use GCash is GSave.💰

GSave

GSave works as a digital savings hub inside the GCash app, where you can open savings accounts with partner banks. Right now, GSave CIMB offers up to 4.15% per annum under the July 2026 promo, while GSave UNO offers up to 5.50% per annum for a 12-month time deposit.

The regular GSave CIMB account has a 2.30% base rate, with no maintaining balance, and deposits are PDIC-insured up to ₱1 million. That makes GSave interesting for people who want to start small instead of waiting until they have a huge amount of money sitting around, like me!😄

Bond, GBonds😎

James Bond reference for those of you who share the love of 007.😄

Then there is GBonds, which takes things one step further.

Through GBonds, GCash users can invest in Philippine government bonds starting at ₱500. The campaign materials cite potential yields of around 7% for Retail Treasury Bonds, depending on the available offering. Government securities are distributed through the Bureau of the Treasury, and coupon payments for applicable bonds are credited to the GCash wallet.

There are also Treasury Bills for people looking at shorter investment periods.

What I like about the idea is the accessibility. You do not have to walk into a bank branch, become a finance nerd overnight, or start with an enormous amount of money just to explore your options. GSave and GBonds are available through the GCash app, making saving and investing feel a little less intimidating!😎

How To:

To get started with GSave, open GCash, go to Grow Money, select GSave, choose a partner bank, and follow the account-opening steps.

For GBonds, go to the investment section, select GBonds, review the available bond offering, choose your investment amount, and confirm the transaction after checking the details.

Of course, this is the part where I put on my responsible-adult hat: rates, promotions, yields, fees, and available products can change.🤓 The GCash Help Centre also shows that GSave rates and partner products can be updated, so check the latest information and terms before making a decision.🤓

Remember

Learn slowly! One financial term at a time, without turning it into a thesis.😅

MY TAKEAWAY

For me, it’s simple: saving is not just about putting money somewhere and forgetting about it. Although, yes, essentially, that’s the point.😅

But it’s also about learning what choices are available and finding an option that matches your goals, budget, and comfort level.😌

But really, for me, if I’m going to work hard for my money (and I absolutely do), I would at least like to give my money a chance to work a little bit for me, too.😎
