If DDS stands for something new, it could probably be how Senator Allan Peter Cayetano is as “DDS” as he is, a Downright Dangerous Senator. If only on the basis of how good he is, the core of his political substance indicates factional ingenuity and audacity. To be a consummate crafty politician, one would most likely learn from his playbook. He sure knows how to play the game of politicking. We’d liken him to a Pharisee for all the likely overtones and allusions to this self-righteous yet ironically “heroically self-deprecating” figure.

Adept in man’s law while personifying a “holier-than-thou” understanding of God’s law, Cayetano’s outward passionate argumentative bravado seems to contradict his “oratorical moral ascendancy”. Let’s not even cite his citable contemptuous short-tempered, hot headed sarcasm when disagreeing with others. (Remember his tirade against Senator Zubiri? – just one of many) He has this condescending belief that he is better than anyone given his interpretation of laws, cases and issues. As it appears, it’s his way of saying he’s more qualified to take on others’ roles and responsibilities he might be alluding to. It’s a manifestation of such a possibility.
His insinuation of the likelihood of becoming Senate President however “doesn’t have the duplicitous nature” to stab then-SP Chiz Escudero in the back refutes how he politically betrayed his own brother, Taguig former Mayor Lino Cayetano. It was likewise an indistinct jab at the recent Senate coup that installed Senator Tito Sotto as the new SP as treacherous. “Understandably”, it’s how he’d rather perceive “protecting their own” when it concerns his or his allies’ own protection. Notwithstanding the sentiments of the people, for him, “the law is the law”. Yet, he has this twisted concept of the rule of law corresponding with “selective political correctness”.
His take on the CCTV footage as probable evidence allegedly incriminatory against one of their own was contended as an attack on the very institution they all belong to. Apparently, his point is to rather put the senate under SP Sotto’s headship as disunited and unstable for a cohesive organization unworthy of soundness and solidarity, making it appear how it’ll assumingly be “better” under a different leadership. Most likely referring to one who’s more conscious of winning the hearts and trust of senators than that of the truth. A subdued hint on how the senate would have been more pro-senators if its head would rather protect the organization it’s heading despite a potentially more detrimental repercussion. Superficially a concern focused more on their image at the expense of truth-seeking impartiality regardless who gets incriminated in the process. Something they could easily take advantage of since they’d be protected anyway regardless of possible implications.
Being a traditional politician that Cayetano is, his own brother even believes he’s trying to justify corruption to be as normal as how everybody is guilty of. For the senate’s minority leader, what’s important is that you repent… He’s probably aware of the “seventy x seven” times as much one could possibly be forgiven for wrongdoings thus it’s taken for granted every so often. The way he’s playing this political posturing, his take on whatever he’s raising and arguing if things were turned, he’ll likely be refuting for their sake and in their defense. No matter how it’s actually the truth, it’s not for that context but for a self-serving objective. Allegedly a turncoat however his coat’s unturned outwardly though for all its opportunistic’s worth, so to speak.
Cayetano speaks with confidence, nonetheless filled with assumptions however worded with confidence. Much like how he also assumed that every Senator wants to be Senate President except for Senator Lito Lapid whom he seemed to have insulted with an undertone basing it from Lapid’s reputedly known lackadaisical nature. A well-played discreditation while making it sound or appear as a pragmatic impression substantiating further Lapid’s apathetic character with the probability of Lapid switching sides. He’s conscious of numbers and alliances and at the same time scared of independence…
All of these and more about Cayetano being “DDS” more than being a real Diehard Duterte Supporter, seemingly, he’d turn in their “lord” for crucifixion when it’ll serve him right. But, he’d probably have a paid-up “Judas” do that instead… That’s one reason he was for the “anti-impeachment” hearing against VP Sara Duterte because he knows it’ll likewise “shake the pointer of his moral compass”… It’s also the most convenient way for him to go against PBBM for all his hatred towards the president despite the latter’s now “good intentions vs corruption” similar to that of his self-aware mandate and calling as a public servant supposedly… Yes, he’s good, however used for his selfish gain. For now however, it’s serving him right if only for the reason of protecting his possible numbers come election. Likewise, the strong possibility of a Duterte presidency come 2028 is his ticket to continue being a “DDS” for all his self-worth. Yes, he’s good, “dangerously good”, good as a Pharisee… a Downright Dangerous Servant
