Actor-turned-politician Robin Padilla questioned people’s humanity over the public’s inhumanely reaction to former DPWH Usec Catalina Cabral’s death. An alleged suicide under questionable circumstances. She was likewise implicated in the much publicized flood control scandal. Considering the wealth she has amassed given her exclusive role over the purported “allocable formula for corruption” under their authority which she didn’t deny, she’s an integral benefiting part of that system. Ghost Projects and all… As such, a lot of people suffered, even died from it. Unlike Cabral’s shady cause of death, the victims of their “engineered corruption” were not given a choice. That was untimely and unfortunate for their families as well. Whereas for Cabral’s demise, it seemed to have been likewise a formulated escape.

Can you blame the people if they’re more concerned about the unanswered questions they were depending on for clarity, anticipated with hope and justice in memory of the innocent victims? Who, by the way, didn’t even get a decent burial perhaps as the supposed humane “honoring of the dead” also got swept away by raging water or drowned into oblivion along with their bodies. What makes it worse is that, the likes of politician Robin Padilla didn’t express that same sentiment if only to accord the victims’ families humane, more so compassionate restitution. Those left behind could only bear the pain thinking of the fearful and horrific agony their lost loved ones had to go through which wasn’t a “formulated plan” but rather due to “calculated malversation”. For all we know, it would’ve been more acceptable for them if the deceased were victims of “taking their own lives”-causing remorse as some form of repentance for their wrongdoings.
We’re not saying that “death by suicide” is an honorable thing. It’s actually the opposite if only we are to base it from the blasphemous termination of the sacredly believed temple of the Holy Spirit. It’s disrespectful and unworthy of honor. However, as the human in “humane” that we’re expected to act on and be empathetic about it regardless of circumstance, it goes either way or both ways. It’s for those deserving of condolences considering their loss. In Cabral’s case however, it’s likewise expected from their side to be understanding of the public’s backlash as they’re not the only ones who lost a loved one out of the anomalous scenario which their departed one was heavily involved in. The angry public could’ve been more sympathetic and understanding if they were at least given something to hope for as far as Cabral’s knowledge of the issue. She seemed to have all the intention to get away from answerability. More hanging questions have been brought up while the previous ones remain moot.
We’ve been manipulated long enough with political stunts and their self-serving agendas as it already is. Ghosted by ghost projects… You shouldn’t be expecting commiseration for that of your time of grief and misfortunes considering how you were likewise insensitive to the public whom you now expect to be understanding of your plight. This doesn’t mean though that we aren’t going to be sensitive ourselves and that we’re not “humane” enough to somehow care. Just don’t demand it like you’re the victim. Don’t demand it from fed-up and angry people, the real victims, like they owe you that level of respect which wasn’t earned but rather entailed out of victim culture all of a sudden, taking advantage of the gullible human(e) nature expected in times of loss. While Cabral may seem “at a loss”, both victim and culprit, she held pieces of information that would’ve “restored faith in humanity” even if only through her exposé for her life’s true restitution. However, there wasn’t a disclosure but “this closed, sure.” I guess, even those would’ve been revelations are ghost projects… Unfortunately, she had to give up a substantial value of what she had engineered with a calculative formula to attain it, including her would’ve been luxurious retirement. Something she apparently cannot “attain” to happen… And so it happened, I mean, “hopped end”. She had different ghost projects in mind. Allegedly, she hopped, she plunged all the way down to her permanent retirement. Not getting up. Literally. Figuratively. Spiritually. As humanely sensitive we could be, we still pray that her soul rests in peace (not our call though). That is as much as we’re hopeful that we could still get answers; not from her ghost though. They’ve already given us so much (or none actually) of those missing projects, ghost projects…
